Hey tech folk,

I've got an 'early 2013' MacBook Pro I've been happy with for years, but now I'm seeing Signal won't run on Catalina - it wants Big Sur.

I hate tech waste; bugs the crap out of me.

Looks like I can either try something like OpenCore Legacy Patcher to fool an update to Big Sur or take a first real dive into the Linux world.

Votes & thoughts appreciated, with thanks!

A boost if you have tech friends also appreciated.

These days, I would personally never use a workaround/patcher. Security has become insanely difficult and the criminals are everywhere.

*However*! it seems that one of OpenCore Legacy Patcher's founders, Mykola Grymalyuk, is leaving to work for Apple, in an important dev role (bug fixing!).

This is probably the only thing that would make me feel safe enough to use it ... and I'm thinking about doing exactly that for a 2015 MBPro. 🙂

Dual boot Big Sur and Ubuntu

@cb_desu

Ha!

I'd just done enough reading as of last night to have decided Ubuntu's for me.

Dual boot was my next curiosity.

Any trusted resources to recommend as to details?
