I signed up to #PBS Passport and I’m donating $20/month to my local station, KQED. It’s a better investment than subscribing to Paramount Plus, for sure. Consider signing up for a *recurring* donation to your local station to show your support.

Even better, some employers will *match* your recurring donations. Get your bosses to support your local station!

#sfba #publicBroadcasting

I wonder if there is a list of at-risk #publicBroadcasting stations in rural areas that will shut down because of the recent defunding. Those stations may be a great candidate for sending your recurring support even if you don’t leave near them.

It’s better than subscribing to Paramount Plus, that’s for damn sure.

@drahardja
Exactly what I was thinking. I don’t have a local station since I’m abroad, so I’ll set up a monthly donation to a station mentioned here as being at-risk.
@drahardja I was also thinking of making this a movement. All of us who live in areas that will support their own stations could adopt a different station or stations. I’ll look around to see if anyone’s made a list
@Runkefer Thanks! Let me know what you find. It’s also not that hard to make a static website that lists stations in need of help.
@drahardja I just posted a link to a substack (ew, sorry) that has a list
@Runkefer Would you mind pasting it here? I don’t see it in (my view of) your posts…

@drahardja sure. Sorry. It should have been in the replies to your post but those can be dodgy sometimes.

@Runkefer Ah, I’ve filtered out the string “substack dot com” from my feed!

@drahardja
I donated to WTTW / PBS in Chicago.
@drahardja So much better than a MAGA hat.

@drahardja I've been donating $10 a month to PBS SoCal in Los Angeles for years. And $5 a month to NMPBS here in Albuquerque. I cancelled Peacock last year. And never bothered to get Paramount Plus. I only have Prime for sports. Just got YouTube TV and Sunday Ticket for sports.

If not for sports,I'd remain a cord cutter.
