One aspect of extreme hierarchy because that’s what inequality is, is it is the product of material conditions, in part constructed by the hierarchy itself.

Extreme wealth is extreme hierarchy. It is extreme power. It is extreme impunity. It is extreme contempt. It is abuse..

History should be proof of enough, but psychology has established this dynamic and human thinking.

It does not have to be this way, but it requires a dramatic rework of our thinking

@rbreich The question is how best to create a more equitable society while simultaneously preserving personal freedom and rights of private property and not lapsing into authoritarianism (as has happened repeatedly in history). Where does that balance lie? Pithy posts that sound good don’t cut it.

@rbreich

Whatever you do, be sure to keep using your FB, insta, X, or slurping your starbucks, or buying your apple, or ordering at your amazon (prime!) or munching your mc donalds.

For sure they're not financially suporting those things. No no, that's all a lie. (says fox news, and cnn, and FB, and Insta, and X, and google news,, and youtube, and etc etc)

@rbreich

The One Percent are like obsessive Pokemon players.

Yes, I said it.

@LeelaTorres
Remember: There is nothing
natural or inevitable about
extreme inequality; it’s the
result of an economic and
political system that values

wealth and power over
human dignity and justice.

It doesn't have to be this way.

@rbreich

"We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings." -- Ursula K. Le Guin

@rbreich Humans are not born with the same skills, interests, appearance, strengths, capabilities, taste, etc.

Trying to make everybody equal is advocating for injustice.

@rbreich These people are a minority and don't quite get how the minority is allowed to rule. 🤷‍♀️
