I consider "systems critique" to be vital to do better engineering and design.

For example acknowledging why 3,5" FDDs never exceeded 1440kB mainstream and why U.2 & U.3 are horrible data transfer media but P2 was nice whilst also understanding the mechanical & #UX merits of the 3,5" FDD format.
