I started playing Avowed, it looked interesting based on the trailer. It’s currently available on Xbox Game Pass.
Ilora sounded really familiar, I was getting ME: Andromeda flashbacks. And wouldn’t you know it, she’s voiced by the same actor who voiced Suvi in Andromeda.

I’m always interested in certain sorts of physics in games. Like how something that occurs in nature is made to happen in a video game.
I went swimming because I like to go around and see what’s in a new area and my adventure took me to the sea after checking out a closed down lighthouse. I heard waves crashing to the rocks but the water’s too calm for that, so I wanted to make sure no one was throwing something into the water. No, just unrealistic physics 😂

Okay, this game, at least after four hours or so, feels really good. I’m exploring the map, and it’s great how it gets uncovered as you go. And it doesn’t care if you stray from the main objective. I already found a cool cave with lots of spiders (would be interesting to check how the arachnophobia setting works, I’m not spooped by seeing them in video games, so I left that to off) and now I’m at the docks and found a romance novel describing a sapphic love story between a queen and her stable master. I’m assuming there’s continuation as the excerpt went into my journal’s Lore section. I hope so, I like where it was going.

I met Runyd, the Watcher, and she told us that my godlike soul was pierced by a thorn instead of gaining a chime from a god and none of the gods claim my character’s soul. And I got a reply option to say something about it being ’just my luck’.
And damn if that didn’t hit home.
But then I started thinking, no. That was the me who was trapped in a toxic environment, around people who absolutely did not get me and tried to keep me down.
That’s not who I am now. My soul has no thorn anymore. It chimes with a thousand bells.

Oh wow, I recognised another voice! IMDb doesn’t list all characters for each voice actor in Avowed, but does list the actors. I came across Performer Durogu and he sounded exactly like Eli from the rebooted Saints Row. And of course that’s exactly who it is, Eugene Byrd 😁

The empire my character belongs to is called Aedyr.
I keep pronouncing it as Aedirn, because of the sort of similar spelling to one of the countries in the Witcher universe 😂

Finally I got the gamma adjusted so that it’s not pitch black all the time indoors and at night. So you get to see what my godlike Envoy looks like.
These features just… called to me the moment I saw them, the bark over the eyes and the woody tendrils in the hair.
The mushrooms and flowers were cool and all but these were my thing, I guess.
