But me and a friend (Miyu!) realized some parallels between these two, and then created an entire timeline around how they could have met. I still need to actually draw/write something with them cause I've got such brainworms about it.

(por ejemplo lego Spidy x Miguel O'Hara, o parejas de las que no hay ni un solo arte pero que pueden llegar a pasar? como mi ship de Kafei x el hombre de la Curiosity Shop en Majora's mask).
Pero dentro de las que llegué a considerar que no son de un mismo universo tengo estas, Messmer (Elden Ring) y Gwyndolin (Dark Souls) (solo xq ambos tienen culebras integradas en sus cuerpos...los fanarts que he visto son super lindos, aunque pertenecen ambos a fromsoft...asi que no se si es "unrelated media") y de ahí quizá no un ship tal cual pero tengo tendencia a relacionar a Cham Cham y a Felicia como si fueran parte de una misma cosa idk jajaja, 90's catgirl toxoplasmosis
(pensar en esto de crack ships me hizo recordar esos ships que se solia ver bastante de dragon ball x sailor moon, o sailor moon x los caballeros del zodiaco).
Creo que no soy tan shipeadora de cosas no relacionadas entre si (soy de esas que le ponen el filtro de no mostrar crossovers en ao3) aunque poner personajes en otros mundos si me parece interesante (x o y personajes en el mundo de pkmn por ejemplo).
(PD, no me gusta ese render de Cham Cham en el juego reciente, como que su diseño no lo tradujeron bien en modelo 3D con ese "realismo" extraño, al menos mi cerebro no lo digiere....o<<)
@ocelotmilk la verda es que yo también lo veo como una definición vaga, para mi tmb hay ships que aunque sean de la misma propiedad ni se le ocurre a uno que podrían interactuar que se pueden considerar crackships, pero creo que hay gente que a eso ya le viene diciendo rareship y generalmente me apego a esa definición.
Esos de los anime clásicos de latinoamerica me dan mucha risa jaja era juntar las cosas que le gustan a uno porque tiene mucho sentido hacer eso :3 yo tmb aplico la del filtro jaja generalmente no me llaman esos a mi tampoco, esta clase de ships me entra más bien por ver fanart. @spillingdown yo siento que las cracks son como mezclas surreales y las rare son las que son posibles pero que la gente no percibe por A o B motivos, una crack podria ser algo como neji x itachi (ejemplo super loco sacado de la manga jajaja) pero una rare podría ser un gaikaka (antes era rare xq todos andaban en kakairu, ahora ya es popu, pero no era tan vista porque gai no era el bishie convencional)
Igual concuerdo con que el hype por una pareja aunque sea una combinación super extraña es pegadizo y se aprecia, a veces si, a veces no (ships como kakasaku /NOTP declarada/, siguiendo la linea narutesca que acabo de spamear jajaja). Yo por ese hype y fanart lindo fue que encontré el Messmer x Gwyndolin, es pegajoso ver la creatividad de la gente de mezclar personajes que no tienen nada que ver entre sí en algo tangible.
Y siii, ni modos los modelos de ese SamSho, hay que comernos las migajas...he intentado que me guste por Cham Cham pero YY ojalá se atrevieran a sacar juegos de SNK con estilo tipo Guilty Gear, más "anime" y menos realista...se vale soñar :'3

⚜️Samifer@spillingdown i've lost contact with that friend now but back in 2017 i had a period of a few months where i shipped lysandre/present mic from bnha bc mic was my friend's number 1 fave and obvs lysandre was mine and we thought it was funny. i drew art and i even have an unfinished post-pokémon xy fanfic where mic is the new goldenrod city gym leader and also works at the radio tower and lysandre goes there for business and they meet and have rebound sex. lowkey bittersweet bc the reasons why i don't talk to that friend anymore are kinda sour but i still look back at that particular time in our friendship fondly...

This reminded me I briefly had a sort of similar thing going on with @scumsuck where we mused about our fav tops interacting and I even drew them together a couple times lol a... broship? Would they hold hands? Maybe. But thinking of their preferred slutty tall skinny legend.

kinda! he actually gets lysandre to challenge him to a gym battle in the fic lol, so you get to see his gym team, which is chatot and exploud. whitney only has two pokémons when you challenge her gym so i guess that's why i didn't come up with more...
tbh my favorite thing about the fic is that i'd come up with this whole background thing where mic was in an online group of people who were obsessed with evil teams like team rocket, team galactic, etc. i drew this stupid comic where after meeting with lysandre mic goes back to a chatroom to brag about meeting him and i still think about it sometimes

Real talk though, one of my oldest, if not the first (maybe?) cross pair I had since I was a child. Coincidentally I've talked a lot about them with my buddy @/IndyGotcha in recent months, and it's a combo of historical reasons (the Tenchi and Oh My Goddess fandoms have almost always overlapped since time immemorial), sentimental reasons (I was close to their age when I became a fan of them), and also generally there's soooo much potential in them.
Girls who are often patronized due to their youth (Skuld particularly has a thorn on her side about this), both have identity issues or stories, both tend to be melancholic and lonely without much friends for different reasons, both have skills they can share, and I like the sunshine meets nerdy friends. And then...more?!

I might prolly talk about first, and then some others if I feel like getting to them~

I admit, I haven't seen much of CLANNAD up-close, but thanks to heavy exchange-related osmosis from my fellow friends and some hyperfixation on two particular chars from the show, I ended relatively intrigued by the utter lightning-rod for comedy that was the blonde loser in the show - a bit misogynistic, prone to stupid fits of rivalry with someone he can't take well on, is easily fooled and messed with by his best friend for laughs, kind of perverted, nobody really likes him... very highly animated boy though.
Gotta say, I felt good bit of pity for him... In fact, I think Sunohara was the biggest reason why I hadn't been too into comedy reliefs that only exists as such, as they often were prone on feeling almost inhuman in their staticness as the main characters grow, whilst they never learn from their idiocy.
One day I remembered Kagura's funnier moments from Azumanga and I suddenly imagined a weird scenario where she meets Sunohara and takes in all his idiocy - but not before making him be perplexed by some of her quirks or funny moments.
Then I imagined both maybe hitting off playing ball games together because Kagura wanted to (and Sunohara can't say no to this beauty) - and then it spiraled down from there to a ship.
It'd slowly develop to this small story about a lunk-headed delinquent-like idiot needing to shape up, introspect himself for better as he gains a new companion out of blue in a competitive tomboy with good heart, and tendency to kind of do idiotic things that perplex him back.
(So like, two people sharing same braincell sometimes)
On that end, I commissioned this self-indulgent artwork of the two from my friend some while back - quite do enjoy how it came out.

@IndyGotcha my knowledge of both shows comes from osmosis as well so I don't know the characters well exactly I know the general shape of them. This scenario you've built around Sunohara and Kagura is very cute :3 I agree with you, there's a point where these comic relief characters (especially dudes) can end up feeling like the creator doesn't really see them as part of the human cast.
@IndyGotcha May I ask about luigi&james and utena&shinji? Super curious about what kind of scenarios you've thought for those two :3
Luigi & James is based on particular what-ifs stemming from recurring observations of Team Rocket Trio getting to be in the actual mainline Pokemon-games, primarily through Pokemon Yellow and it's Switch-remakes (Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee) - which then led me to observe how just chummily both would get along incase they ever met. Would be around 1999 or so based on my defaulting to actor-verse-based crossover AU.
On that end, I tend to have few crossover pairs with Pokemon's human cast and some Ninty-chars now and then, you might have seen Pit and Iris, but I also have had Robin (Fire Emblem Awakening) doting around Bonnie (Pokemon X&Y Anime).
Anyway, on some reasonings with Luigi and James:
- Both are goofy cinnamon rolls with very quirky streak - some swag with Luigi, James is flamboyant obviously.
- James comes from rich family with a huge villa (and shitty parents), whilst Luigi owns a big mansion... on that end, James has a puppy pokemon as best friend (Growlie the Growlithe), Luigi gets a ghost puppy dog in Luigi's Mansion 2.
- Both are more than into cross-dressing (Luigi in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and one incident in his own adventures you can hear him in Paper Mario TTYD) -> https://nintendonut1.tumblr.com/post/44351422789/before-i-post-these-drawings-of-my-headcanon-let )
So like, I feel they prolly met during some kinda gatherup of Nintendo's current stars on a ball or smth, and they ended having pretty nice talk. Something to note is that both weren't fully out as the personalities we know today (See how Luigi's like in Mario Golf 64, and how James presents himself in Indigo League when not being goofy).
As time goes on to 2000s, both would meet each other little more and share on some each other's eccentrities without much judgment ("You like to collect bottle caps-a? That's-a pretty nice~!" -> "Didn't take you for experimenting with pink dresses. I could maybe show you even more possibilities, because the world of womens' wardrobe is whole ocean of marvel!" ->> James would very much engage with Luigi's little hobby, latter's gonna grow very distinct style too.)
They'd be such besties. They fill me with a kind of joy in that regard.
I feel like Jessie and Daisy would butt heads hard, over and over. They behave around each other only because of their boyfriends, pffh.

Learned a lot about Luigi today :3 I haven't been able to play the games mentioned in the tumblr post yet so I was unfamiliar with how consistently presented this aspect of his personality is. I can see why you made this connection between the characters!

Utena & Shinji:
Utena and Shinji came off as an off-shoot from observing relations between Hideaki Anno and Kunihiko Ikuhara, but also some folks on Tumblr showcasing arts of both together and few small analysis-posts...
It's bit hard to describe both on my own take without having to get deep on their psyches, but here goes:
My baseline for Shinji and Utena were that their canon selves shouldn't most likely meet because they'd end enabling each other's major flaws really heavily: Shinji, within his meek and anti-social shell, is very dependent and receptful to what other people think of him to form validation of himself, alongside trying to go along with what they tell him/command him due being afraid of making his own decisions out of getting rejected by others - which'd only serve to fuel Utena's saviour complex majorly, especially in her gauding on people with the help she thinks they need.
They'd prolly get along first but after a while, they'd grow pretty wedged and unhealthy as Utena's shifting between not being able to handle someone like Shinji not thinking for himself much, having to coddle him quite often... yet, finding kind of twisted personal fulfillment in it. Whilst Shinji might Utena admirable to a point of glorifying her,maybe ponder if she's much feminine (she'd not like to hear that), and find himself pretty lost when she's not around.
So, I posited both on a more developed post-canon selves, where both come to live in the "real world" as opposed to the escapist-like worlds they were stuck in (See Ohtori Academy and Instrumentality Project standing in for cloaking out the real world) - alongside getting to become more aware of their characteristic complexes. So, when they meet each, in midst of mingling well, they come to notice reflections of people they'd have felt themselves drawn to... but come to realize that's in the past, and they've matured from it now.
I like to imagine both talking about what they used to be as they'd allow themselves to do things in without abandon - Shinji making his own decisions and trying to figure out what he wants out of life currently, with Utena supporting him along the way. (Shinji gains new big sister-like, hehhehhh)
Over time, they end up enough comfortable with each other to do fun jabs at their selves from the past - and maybe acknowledge they were handed quite heavy time in such young age. But above all else, they'll be out there living the life as regular teenagers to young adults!
(Shinji slowly starts taking practice of styling Utena's hair and provide cello music on their shared apartment~ )
They'd be joined by Anthy and Rei, and later on Asuka + Nanami (frenemies with attracted tension?) along the way. Misato as well, whilst Saionji and Touga would be neighbours.

Speaking of I feel Anthy wouldn't get along with both Shinji and Rei first as she finds Shinji like a worse Miki on first impression due him kind of getting infafuated by her a little - and finds herself falling on her old habit of try to poke at someone's insecurities, only for Rei to step in protection. Slow burn, a bit of poor interactions, Utena's conflicted but intervenes for sake of her new friend, knowing this side of Anthy due her exploits with Nanami. It's one of their first fights post-Ohtori - but that's what helps test bonds, mend them stronger.
Over time as she observes him, flawed yet trying, living with her beloved... Anthy ends sitting down with Shinji to hear his heart, and once again is reminded that she's not in the academy anymore. This is a world where everyone's capable to growing and mature, each shared interaction and experience at a time.
So she apologizes and extends her hand to him, wishing to start over.
After a moment of staring back at her, he gently takes it.
@IndyGotcha Thank you so so much for taking the time to write a lengthy explanation for this pair! I love the way you've thought out both the way they'd interact and affect each other negatively within the characterization in their shows, and a more positive future once they've "grown out" of the conflicts in their stories. The inclusion of the other characters is so cool as well :3 Anthy's habits vs the eva pilots' issues sounds like a recipe for disaster lol.
Also, you'd think those two screenshots of Anthy and Shinji are from the same show lol the mood of the lightning style and the characters' energy fit so well.
