So the answer was yes I could do both modifiers simultaneously. Although sadly there was no deed for completing that self-imposed challenge!
Two glade evernts every time I opened a glade wasn't as bad as I expected, and the modifier that hid whether glades were forbidden or dangeerous wasn't too bad either - it was clear by the size of the glades whether they were the good ones or not.
