Three things that happened today:

- Benjamin Netanyahu’s governing coalition has fallen apart, leaving Netanyahu vulnerable to a vote of no confidence.

- Netanyahu’s corruption trial continued, having resumed on Monday after being delayed by a month by the attacks on Iran.

- Israel bombed Damascus, destroying its defense ministry headquarters.

- Oh would you fucking look at that, a fourth thing: Netanyahu’s trial was delayed again!

This absolute piece of shit will wage genocide, risk World War Three, and tear apart every neighboring country for the most venally corrupt reasons.

'What a Coincidence': Netanyahu Corruption Trial Adjourned as Israel Bombs Syria | Common Dreams

"Last month it was Iran, now Syria! All thanks to free U.S. military supplies," said one observer.

@HeavenlyPossum
as for 1, hopefully, but no. One of the two forms of votes of no confidence was attempted in June and cannot be used again for two or five months (don't remember which), and the coalition has exactly 60/120 mandates; you need 61 and it's likely some of the center and the extreme right will defect to the coalition per usual. but Shas will probably drop out too leaving them with 49 seats.

@HeavenlyPossum
After elections, it is expected that the current coalition, far right opposition included, will only gain 44 seats total given Benett creates a party again. Source: polls before 12 day war.

You need something really major to get the left and the center to cooperate. Democrats (former Meretz + Labour) are expected to drop a new party platform soon, and hopefully that'll attract Lapid towards cooperation.

@HeavenlyPossum

Additionally, the Druze-Jewish solidarity we're seeing lately is likely to strip support (and votes) leftwards, especially if Arab parties capitalize on it.

*Note, so far Shas has explicitly NOT drop out. But it might anyway, is what im saying.

@lax

Thank you for the clarification

@HeavenlyPossum sure, anytime. Feel free to @ me if you have any questions
@HeavenlyPossum There’s no end to the wars Netanyahu will start to avoid trial!
@HeavenlyPossum @pluralistic If every attack on a foreign capital buys Netanyahu another one- month reprieve in his corruption trial, I wouldn't want to be in Reykjavik in, say, September or October of 2027.
@HeavenlyPossum Some criminals run for office in the US as well to avoid prosecution.
@HeavenlyPossum Netanyahu is not #israel why can't people in the US stand up can call this guy what he is--a tyranical monster.

@hdunagan @HeavenlyPossum Some of us are trying to. Patinkin and his wife are some of the more famous people calling him out, hopefully more will follow.
I often call him a PoS, and point out he’s been charged with corruption several times. But who am I?
