Dave Dee@aral just listened to a podcast with Peter Thiel. It then occured that everything they market as "woke" and "socialist" are things that hinder THEM in achieving whatever it is they want.
They don`t need society, they don`t need living wages, they have enough means to privately build and buy everything.
"I don't want to get dementia: let's accelerate human experimentation!"
He even sees "mortality" as a disease to be cured.
Back in the days those were goals for the obvious archvillain...

The ultra-wealthy believe that spending a few hundreds of billions of dollars on AI R&D will yield AGI, allowing them to replace all labor with robots and AI, and totally eliminating their dependence on the rest of us. At that point they don't care if the the rest of us just starve to death. In fact, it's their preferred outcome. A post-scarcity economy, but only for the top 0.001% winners of previous economy.

@carolleisa @brouhaha @aral Scary thing is in their minds they'll unfreeze at Mars as king of a society that's been engineered to worship them.
But they'll need to break society faster in order to actually get there. They need more people to die faster to "accelerate" their science. They need to funnel more resources towards their private ends away from public society.
This technofascism happens to coincide with the current flow of (white) nationalism but they come from different ideologies.
