Fonts In Use is not active on Instagram.

We’ve abandoned problematic platforms, embraced ethical alternatives, and survived to talk about it.

@FontsInUse thanks for making a stand (and for all the amazing work over the years of course)
@FontsInUse outstanding leadership. You're a real beacon in our community.
@FontsInUse missed opportunity for "decentralized community platforms" 😁
@FontsInUse Yes, so many of the thoughts running through my own mind captured in the candid and convincing piece. Bravo 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

Some will claim that corporate social media and dark patterns are required to reach an audience and get them coming back. Fonts In Use has proven that’s not true.

I understand the draw to IG, when it feels like that’s where everyone else is. But it’s not worth handing the keys of your future over to Meta. Put it on the web!

@typographica I tried my best to push forward our @ypsilonediteur followers to our website, newsletter or mastodon (& bsky) and it's so so hard to fight against their appeal to Instagram (or FB) : lots of them are not that well digitally ‘literate’ (probably different for most Fonts in use followers because of the ’techie’ topic of type + is the audience mainly young & masculine?) and I understood that a lot of small and indie bookshops we’re working with have their online existence only there…
@paulinenunez @ypsilonediteur I hear that. The pull is so strong. We can only hope that more folks in the creative community show their opposition. It takes a critical mass.
@typographica absolutely! Sometimes it feels like twice the work and displacing things a grain of sand after the other but still… and we do need counterexamples that work just like Fontsinuse
@FontsInUse Bravo! Also, I think this is the most boosts I have ever seen on a mastodon post.
@FontsInUse “Put it on the web”!!! ♥️ thank you for inspiring us, not just about type
@FontsInUse That's a wonderful decision. Congrats. It really makes me commit to it even more, myself
