I am old enough to remember when there were no surcharges on debit and credit cards.

Somehow, businesses didn’t go bankrupt.

Perhaps the owners were smarter then and knew how to calculate the cost of doing business and set prices accordingly.

PS. Weren’t businesses having a whinge recently about the cost of moving cash around?

Businesses would be banned from applying surcharges to all credit and debit card transactions from July next year under a Reserve Bank proposal.
