Saturday night I went up Silver Star in the evening and found a spot to sling my hammock for a few hours. At dawn I set off to do what I call The Big Loop: Bluff Mountain-> Copper Creek-> Starway. I like to do this loop a couple times a year but usually I spend a night down by Copper Creek or start from the north. This time I started from Grouse Vista which means I went over the mountain twice in 24 hours. +/-5890' (1795m) over 18.7mi (30.1km). My legs are toast. 🫠

First time I did The Big Loop I got passed by some trail runners. They were doing a race on my loop plus like 20 MORE miles. πŸ™ƒ

I missed the bear grass super bloom this year but the other wildflowers are really in their prime. And berries! Cool thing about doing these big elevation changes is moving through so many different microclimates. I ate ripe salmon, thimble, blue and red huckles, and wild blue berries! I don't think I've ever seen all of those ripe at once.

Best highlight was seeing a blond bear cub on the trail. He took off into the trees as soon as I saw him so no picture. I couldn't see mama bear so I just stayed put and made a lot of noise for a few minutes.

I did get a (grainy) picture of a cute little pika!

What an awesome adventure and stunning photos! πŸ€©πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

@intrepidhero

Love those sunrise photos!

@thomasb hiking during sunrise is the best. πŸ₯°
@intrepidhero imagining you standing there making a bunch of noises is a real contrast to the serenity of the images πŸ™‚
