#Putin has chosen the path of escalation.

As #Russian propagandists and #Russian_Telegram channels await President #Trump's statement that he will make later today, the level of their threats has intensified. It's no longer just the usual nuclear rhetoric — now there are open threats of physically eliminating #Ukraine's leaders.

As just one example, #Russian political analyst #Marat_Bashirov wrote about the anticipated statement from President #Trump regarding #Russia and the possible reaction of the #Russian leadership:

"Any escalation in #Ukraine suits us — that's just how we are. It's our mentality. We need an external push, a provocation, to cross yet another moral line. Yes, it's a pity about #Kyiv, a pity about other cities, but if the choice is between our cities or theirs – the choice is obvious.

Will we return to the plan of limited nuclear strikes? I wouldn't rule it out. Will we use Plan B and physically eliminate #Ukraine's leadership? Also, I wouldn't rule it out. Will we strengthen #Russia's wartime economy in response? Yes, we will. And you know what? In a month, #Trump will make another U-turn and start blaming #European leaders for their incompetence.

I originally supported #Kamala_Harris as a more inertial #US President, but apparently, God decided not to delay matters with #Ukraine. And who are we to argue with Him?"

What does this tell us? That the #Kremlin is extremely worried.

#Putin hasn't outplayed President #Trump – he has outplayed himself.

The #Kremlin's bet that the #US President would endlessly offer "friend #Vladimir" a way out of the war and would avoid imposing serious sanctions has failed.

Regardless of whether new sanctions are actually introduced – or if the #US simply increases aid to #Ukraine and contributes to driving down oil prices – #Russia faces serious problems: a growing budget deficit, inflation, and a weakening ruble.
