I've found that contact sheets are not all that useful with half frame images; instead I've been trying to identify a handful that look promising and make small quick proofs. The idea is quantity rather than quality, to try and evaluate several images at once much like you would an contact sheet.
I've had a lot of fun with the process, and have had some lucky results.
