1) contracts penalise the SNCF for running shorter trains than planned but no incentive to run longer ones

2) SNCF software is so bad that trains can only be listed full for their entire journeys. The SNCF creates fake trains to solve this

@bovine3dom I remember my late grandfather complaining, back in the 1990s, that SNCF made the mistake of procuring "Socrate", an information system that was designed for airlines, and therefore was terrible at handling the fact that trains have multiple stops, but apparently lessons have not been learned in the past (checks calculator) 30 years...
