From the company that took all digitized content without permission to build their product, now we have a browser.

So the company can use your data and behavior and to lock you in to their statistical parrot (AI)

#AI #privacy

@beyondmachines1 say everyone using the browser from the Advertising company.
@gcb We still need to do our outmost to raise awareness. Not replace one greedy corp with a greedier one
@gcb @beyondmachines1 People like you are part of the problem, not the solution. You being an asshole didn't help move any user towards safer internet.
You just showed on your example, that it's not an effort worth trying, because while corporations are literally our enemies, at least they are not overtly smug like you.
@beyondmachines1 if my service were as bad as openai’s, I’d probably try not to draw attention to it like this
@aapis They are losing money. They can't allow for the bubble to pop.
They are faking it and there is no making it in sight.
@beyondmachines1
Along with the AI search engine Perplexity.
@beyondmachines1 cant wait for the exploits to come flooding in.
@justin oh, i didn't even think of that, but you are right. So many places to poison that browser with prompt injection
@beyondmachines1 You know what browser doesn't collect any information or telemetry whatsoever?
@beyondmachines1 I bet it scrapes every webpage you visit to train the AI. Maybe it's to get around their scraper bots getting blocked by most websites.
@besselj @beyondmachines1
I recall a lawsuit where Google sued Bing for copying their fake web results. They had put intentionally bad results into their search to see if Bing was copying them somehow and they were.
Bing successfully defended with "we didn't steal that data, it was presented to our browser (Internet explorer at the time)" (and somehow no one noticed that meant Microsoft could see all of your interactions online)
@beyondmachines1 I'm not an AI doomer but I would never in a million years give an AI company that much information about myself.
@drserizawa the only AI doom we can foresee in this timeline is the humanity getting dumber because a statistical parrot regurgitates things quickly and people don't employ their brain.
The plot of Idiocracy 2

@beyondmachines1 The speed at which AI is ramping up is frightening. New apps, new ways to get you to give up your data or just outright steal it from you, shoehorning AI into our phones and PCs, laying off thousands of employees to redirect the expense of paying them to more AI research...

This is genuinely scary.

@deadtom Indeed it is. Regulation and even tech people can't keep up. It's a race to the bottom.
@beyondmachines1 AFAIK perplexity is building the same thing.
@Serpent7776 which is another thing that must not be installed and used
@beyondmachines1 I reaally like perplexity, but yeah I have zero interest in an AI browser.
@beyondmachines1 do you know if this is also true of chromium?

@wehpudicabok the Google variant - definitely given time.

The rest of the chromium flavors, we hope not but we'll be monitoring and choosing our browsers appropriately.

At this moment most other browsers either don't have an explicit AI integration or have a disable AI option. Remains to be seen where that goes.

@beyondmachines1 considering that most people still use google chrome and windows, they've given up on privacy a long time ago.

@pbg But we are not giving up on educating and reminding them to be selfish with their data.

We need to call out when the king is naked. Some people will listen.
