I used to suspect that the whale statue in front of the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, aka "Sandy the Gray Whale" was cast from the same moldings as the whale statue in front of the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History.

Having investigated such things again now (despite having been local to the areas in my youth), it appears as if the Santa Cruz equivalent in Tyrrell Park has apparently been updated in 2025 and now has a baby whale companion! Whoa!

So I have no idea about their potential relation anymore!

The whale statue @skinnylatte@hachyderm.io shared is also new to me, but to my eyes? The barnacles do not appear as if they are to a consistent scale. ;)
