Some are guilty,
Most are powerless and even their protests are ignored by those in positions of power.
Not everyone is responsible for atrocities committed by a few, that's an extremely reductionist and childish view, even if it has a nice ring to it as a saying.
@limneticvillains @theradr.bsky.social
Niemöller wasn’t powerless, so I’m not sure what you’re attempting to accomplish with this bit of preemptive defensiveness.
The lesson of Niemöller is to look past self-interest and act before it’s too late.
It’s arguably “reductionist and childish” to believe that collaborating will save you.
@justanotheramy @theradr.bsky.social You've jumped the gun with the word collaborating haven't you?
How is protesting collaborative?
Also, I wasn't talking about or defending Niemöller, jeeeesus.
I'm talking about the phrase.
'some are guilty
all are responsible'
We are living through- right now- what appears to be a massive rise in fascism, and even the most vocal are rather powerless to stop it, that's my only point.
Pre-emptive defensiveness, indeed...
@limneticvillains @theradr.bsky.social
Protest isn’t the only form of resistance, and the belief that it is is boomer self-congratulation.
You don’t have to turn up saluting in a uniform to be collaborating.
“Nice people make the best Nazis” etc etc.
Bless you, but read a book or two.
Who said it was the only form?
Are you one of these people that reads Apple but processes Orange?
I made a comment about a single phrase and you read far too much into it and jumped to some weird conclusions, and now you're trying to insult me due to your own inability to read, and your own reaction - to nothing.
I'm really sorry but I'm not interested in being insulted by pompous, unhinged, rabid git.
@theradr.bsky.social First they came for other humans. Or other parts of the living world.
And I fucked them up, because I am human. I am part of the world.
