YES!!

I successfully repaired my Apple 40SC Tape backup drive by creating a new 3D printed capstan for it. I then was able to recover some lost Apple / Claris engineer's goodies from 36 years ago! 😮

@mac84tv I have one of these drives saved from a workplace <cough> 35 years ago, but I’ve never fired it up or looked inside. I’ll definitely check the capstan roller before doing anything with it.

Now … where are those tapes?
