Hey, if you're interested in doing signal processing on embedded devices using OpenEmbedded, and maybe shy away from corporate pricing for OE workshops:

@gnuradio #GRCon25 features a workshop "GNU Radio on Embedded SDRs" by Philip Balister @Crofton (of OE fame) and Toby Flynn (of RedWire Technologies).
There's week/1day tickets available & if you're into SDR, #GPU-accelerated DSP, satellite comms, radio astronomy, physics with SDR, DSP architecture, radio metrology, …, it's a really nice conf.

I should probably have mentioned where to get @gnuradio Conference tickets: https://tickets.gnuradio.org/grcon25/
GNU Radio Conference 2025

Sept. 8th – 12th, 2025

@funkylab @Crofton @gnuradio OpenEmbedded as in the yocto repos PetaLinux sources?
@hennichodernich @Crofton No, proper?
(I can't really tell you what Phil and Toby are going to talk about in detail this year, but I'm sure we can ask if you want to; if you want to have a look at what RedWire Technologies does, https://github.com/redwiretechnologies/meta-rwt-common , https://github.com/redwiretechnologies/hdl-rwt )

@funkylab @Crofton Okay, I just wanted to confirm it's the same OpenEmbedded.
Unfortunately a travel to the US is completely out of reach for me, financially, logistically and politically.
@hennichodernich @Crofton Ah, the sadness is strong with me! Honestly, if anything, I was hoping for your employer to do their part on the financial side ;)
I'll be sure to let you know next time something like that happens in Europe. (Note: No embedded talks so far at EU GR Days Lyon, do you want to fill that gap? In exchange, I bet Cyrille will let you run wild with the massive SDR testbed…)
@hennichodernich at least there will be the GRCon streams, but to the best of my knowledge only of the main track, not the workshop track(s).
@funkylab @Crofton These activities are basically orthogonal to what I do at $DAYJOB (or better: what I'm officially employed for) so the chance my employer will sponsor me is realistically 0.
@hennichodernich I will totally call your boss and tell them you're *REQUIRED* to go for ${reason that I can definitely find a talk or workshop on among the GRCon contributions}, you know?

@funkylab Open Source is a difficult topic in my company...

AN OPEN SOURCE DEVELOPER CAN NEVER BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE

THEREFORE

AN OPEN SOURCE DEVELOPER'S CODE MUST NEVER END UP IN SOFTWARE SHIPPED TO OUR CUSTOMERS

@hennichodernich literally laughing out loudly here!
