@simonzerafa @RickiTarr I suggest trying sci-fi from cold war communist countries. It was amazing. The Eastern block countries did not allow dissent, but fantasy was OK. Lots of complaints about living in a dictatorship were phrased as space travel.

Stanislaw Lem and Strugatsky brothers are a good start.
