Some of my favs are one must fall 2097 (DOS), knights of the round (SNES), and snow bros (haven't decided my favorite platform)

- Star Control 2 (3DO, but the game was open sourced - http://sc2.sf.net - so it's running natively)
@soulsource how are you playing settlers 2 on a handheld? >_> doesn't that require a mouse
@eniko This one I'm playing exclusively on the SteamDeck (which I count as "handheld retro thingy"). It has touchpads.
Star Control 2, on the other hand, works perfectly fine with gamepad, that's why I've also been playing it a lot on my GCW Zero.
(My GCW Zero hasn't seen any use since I got the Steam Deck, even though it would be much more convenient to use due to its smaller size.)
@soulsource ah dang i was hoping you had some cheat code to make settlers 2 work well without mouse cause i love that one

@eniko Sadly not. I only ever got it enjoyable on devices that either had a mouse, touchpad, or touchscreen.
The Settlers 1 would have built-in joystick support, so it might be usable with gamepad. However, last time I tried that was back in the 90s, with an actual flightstick, and while that did work, it wasn't what I would call enjoyable.
