I passed by this tower every time I left my hotel in Nuremberg. It is the Spittlertorturm, one of the four circular main towers of the Nuremberg city fortifications. But the Spittlertor is the southwest of the Nuremberger City wall. Early records show that the gate tower was part of the last city wall. Its name comes from the nearby hospital St. Elisabeth of the Teutonic Order.

I stayed in Nuremberg for a few days. This was my first time in Franken and Bavaria. Even though I have been living in Germany for years, this part of the country was always put aside. e. I loved the time I spent there, and I can't wait to go back.
