online friendships can be real
don't let people tell you otherwise
@trickykat The number of people that I first met _not_ involving the internet and still keep up with is very, VERY small. The lady who ran my favourite diner. A cashier at a grocer, with interesting jewelry. Blood kin. _That's about it_.

@stonebear2

I know what you mean. I feel a connection with my online friends. Some may say this is parasocial and call me a fool for taking a risk. I think the key is to set your expectations accordingly. I am prepared to take the risk to trust people online and irl and so far I have not been disappointed. No risk no gain.

@trickykat *nods* I've been bit a few times... _and_ had my life radically changed for the better enough times to run out of fingers on a hand...

There's a song about how I've lived my life since getting to college; I discovered the song long before I discovered the gentlebeing who wrote it, who is now my brother-of-choice.
