ebluit's cool that people are pushing for more consistent alt text but please also remember that not everyone will be able to write it or might decide against it for so many different reasons. it's a good guideline but don't try to force it, that's all
if you think you can write it yourself then you can always just offer to do it! usually people are too tired/burnt out/etc to caption their images so they'd likely appreciate it

@alicedotjpog I mean it is irrational but honestly I don't think that anyone should be concerned with whether a reason is legitimate or not. if someone doesn't want to do something then they don't want to do it
