Is migrating from MikroTik to Cisco as my main router a viable thing to do? Esp. if I want fanless, rack mountable and somewhat full IOS
would something like a Cisco 890 be the way to go or am I missing a better product?
god, cisco has way too many products and their naming doesn't make any sense either
wait there are affordable, somewhat new Cisco fanless routers, with DSL? Why did I buy a FritzBox??
maybe I should start with virtualized IOS though
@merlin the 1100 series?
@0x47df exactly that one! Only thing I'm missing is SFP+, otherwise I would have ordered one right on the spot
@merlin i /nearly/ bought one a few years ago but couldn't quite figure out which license(s) i needed to make anyconnect do the thing
@0x47df I didn't even think about anyconnect. right, there is no WireGuard on IOS... that would be a challenge
@merlin @0x47df hand-patched IOS XE with the wireguard kernel module,,,

Cisco
@merlin @jn that looks like traffic identifiers for app-aware firewalling bits to me? (not a cisco person at all)
@0x47df @jn me neither, I just googled Cisco IOS WireGuard. You may very well be correct
@0x47df @merlin right, at least the Fritzbox doesn't come with "as a service, we let you pay on-demand if you want faster VPN speeds (you mean IPSec when you say VPN, right?!)" 😅
@HeNeArXn @0x47df yeah that would be a major pain... so far the fritzbox is nothing but a dumb modem that's passing stuff to a proper router though
@merlin because it's confusion is on purpose...
