Was this built by a dog who hates fireworks?

"[The bunker] comes equipped with 2 NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) filter systems...two entry ways plus an emergency escape hatch, storage for 7000+ gallons of water, geothermal heating and cooling, and 3 bar structure to withstand extreme pressure...".

Here we have another nuclear bunker but this one is way creepier. Towards the bottom of the gallery there are pictures from a part that actually looks livable but still... no thanks.

@weirdestate For once it's nice to a see a toilet not covered in mirrors.

This could actually be quite a cool place were it not in Gilead.

@weirdestate ew, it didn't age well without an apocalypse. can't imagine it'd do well in one
@weirdestate The half-finished interior walls inside the bunker followed by the new-looking renovated(?) quonset hut screams "guy who bit off more than he could chew"
@weirdestate Credit where it’s due: the advertising copy is surprisingly good. Far more precise and truthful than most listings, I think.
@ibk @weirdestate honestly, I’m disappointed the vibe in the second isn’t more Fallout 76 inspired.
@weirdestate I guess as an ex missile silo you have to turn a pair of keys to open the skylight...
@weirdestate anyone read the description? It’s gold
@weirdestate Ugh, I hate how cheery the text sounds about nuclear death.
@weirdestate those puddles in the bunker are an ill omen
@weirdestate Imagine being trapped beneath a radioactive wasteland and having to live out your last days staring at that badly installed mess of sloppy conduit. Regrets, man.
@nickzoic @weirdestate Then at least you've got lots of time to tidy up that cabling..
@WooShell @weirdestate future octopus archaeologists: "on the wall is carved the message 'it wasn't my fault' but it is unclear if this refers to the global thermonuclear war which caused the extinction of the species or the mess of sloppy wiring which caused the demise of the individual found adjacent."
@weirdestate what's a trip is how airy and ordinary the place looks above ground.

@weirdestate Honestly, I respect the prepper in this one. Not that it's gonna actually do diddly-squat if the apocalypse comes for real, but if you're gonna build a hardened bunker in the first place, you might as well do it right...

(My ideal bunker, if I couldn't get my mitts on something epic like an old atlas or titan silo, would basically just be "a small house, but underground" just because I think living underground is kinda cool. both figuratively and rather literally, given the changing climate patterns...)

@weirdestate reminds me of the clover field movie
@weirdestate only one escape hatch? Bwuahahahahaa! 😈
@weirdestate However, given that the electrician clearly didn't give a shit about the job he was doing, what quality can we expect for the rest of the build?
@weirdestate what gets me is that it was built in 2004, this isnt some cold war relic.

@weirdestate

...

If it takes a bunker like this to survive in Glade Park, CO? This isn't a disaster one can wait out in a bunker.

@futurebird @weirdestate seems dubious but I'm gonna endorse. Glade Park was within the Mesa Falls ash bed. Sure that Yellowstone eruption was 1.3 million years ago, but you can't be too careful
@futurebird @weirdestate having read that, now I find myself enticed by the idea of having a sound proof room underground with a big sofa in it. Specifically to hide in there and hug dogs during fireworks displays so they don't disturb them or hurt their ears.
@weirdestate ok, but also 7,000 gallons of water is not nearly as much as it sounds like.
@weirdestate Grimdark reboot of The Hobbit (with added kitschy wooden cabinetry and detailings)
@weirdestate my dog is ready to move in!
