Vote for Democrats = You’re an evil liberal, an liberals are just veiled fascist

Vote for third party = You’re wasting your vote, you’re probably just a foreign asset

Vote for progressives = You support neoliberalism that masquerades as milquetoast socialism

Don’t vote at all = You’re a privileged asshole who caused all these issues by not voting

It literally doesn’t matter what you do or who you vote for, you simply can’t win with these people. There’s no appeasing them, they will forever complain about how you vote.

My point is very obvious and straightforward. You cannot appease everybody no matter what you do, and that includes voting, and therefore you should do what you believe is right regardless of what others think, whether that’s voting for something or not voting at all… but I suppose this is just a part of some grand propaganda conspiracy to help boost the Republican party by sowing discourse on Lemmy. That’s stupid, of course it isn’t. But the whole point of posts like this one is try to shame people for voting or not voting. These are the types of people who expect appeasement. MAGA isn’t the only thing our political landscape that wants appeasement. Either way, this type of thing never works. People like OP will never be pleased no matter what. People don’t vote to appease others nor should they. Everybody wants to minimize harm, but what that means is something that’s entirely subjective.

No, you’re just mad that I’m correct. You can’t appease people, and people will complain no matter what you do. Therefore, the obvious conclusion is that you shouldn’t vote to appease others, but you should vote in what you believe is right regardless of what others think.

As a US citizen, yes my country sucks. It has sucked before and it’s sucking just about as hard as it has since the trail of tears. I am embarrassed by my nation’s leaders abetting genocide, defunding aid programs, putting people who live here in prison for the crime of existing, refusing to tax the rich or corporations, etc etc.

But there are a shit ton of us that aren’t like that. We have a totally fucked election system, a flawed and vague constitution, and fascists in every branch of government.

It’s really not all of us, I swear, and not by a long shot.
