I just learned that #Codeberg only receives 350โ‚ฌ per week in donations at the moment. If you like #FOSS and/or you use Codeberg.org, consider donating. Its not GitHub backed by Microsoft, its a non-profit dedicated to providing great service for developers.
Of course, enabling annual donations with an account is the best call.
@stairjoke And you can become a paying member of the codeberg association and have a vote in where we are going next :)

@jwildeboer

(Edit: Now that the toot above has been edited for clarity this joke about the confusability of both english grammar and the by-laws of clubs and associations no longer works)

Do i have to be in Germany to vote, or to pay?

@stairjoke

@EndlessMason @jwildeboer @stairjoke No, it is an association according to German law - you just need to be member to vote - country etc. does not matter.

Similarly, donations can come from any country.

In doubt: ask @Codeberg

@jwildeboer @stairjoke I had initially donated without wanting to join as a member, but why actually not? I just applied for membership ๐Ÿฅณ

@stairjoke Thank you for the reminder, annual donation done.

Had been wanting to do that for yonks!

@stairjoke I became a member of Codeberg e. V. recently :)

@stairjoke thanks for this. I hadn't checked #Codeberg out so assumed it was a company - now I see it is an EU non profit I'm in.

Have registered and will join as a paying member shortly.

We should focus on what distinguishes Codeberg and more will join.

#LeaveGithub

@stairjoke Does that include membership fees or just donations?
@stairjoke I set up a monthly recurring donation just a few weeks ago
@stairjoke (also: @h probably needs funding too for git.gay)
git.gay

git.gay is a collaboration platform made to empower queer developers to create and share their projects with the world.

git.gay
@stairjoke does that include paying members or is it just independent donations? I very much hope the latter.
@hllizi I believe it's donations, not memberships. Maybe @Codeberg can tell you more?
@stairjoke
Codeberg needs to take a page out of lemmy's book. From what I hear, they receive satisfactory amounts after making some posts about it explaining how they work and why it is important. Feel free to check them out.

@stairjoke For members the annual budget plan is visible in the Codeberg-e.V. repository (and it's more than 350โ‚ฌ a week ๐Ÿ™‚)

I am a bit surprised they are not publicly accessible though. I assumed this is required by German law ("Vereinsrecht") - but maybe the law only requires to make this information available to members.

Maybe @Codeberg can comment on why they don't publish their budget.
