I remember that #Google, but it feels like it was in another lifetime. And it definitely feels like a different Google.

But it's not just Google, it's pretty much everyone these days. They try to lock you in their ecosystem and that makes it a lot harder to migrate. And it actually happens with some privacy focused tools too, like email providers that don't allow you easily to export your mail (sometimes not for free, sometimes only email by email). Avoid vendor locks and everything will be easier =)
