Anybody wanna help do #altText descriptions for the handful of images going up on the #turtleBower website?

If you love images and words, and want to help make this amazing cooperative convalescent housing project happen we'd love to have a little extra help.

Bonus if you also are comfortable working with WordPress, but we can fold you in either way.

We've got most of the writing done for this first phase and are busy uploading and building now!

Am so excited! ๐ŸŽ‰

@vlrny Wanna explain what a turtle bower is?

@davey Oh the irony! If only I had a website to point you to. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

We're building this:
(And lots of info under the #turtleBower tag)

@vlrny Looks neat. I considered joining, but I'm uneasy about a site that doesn't have moderators.
While disability is not core to my self-image, quite a few of my friends suffer substantial impairments--sometimes the results of treatment side-effects, e.g. chemotherapy. Even aside from this, I am interested in building, accessibility, and community. I'm an electrical consultant, have written about accommodating people with physical and mental limitations, and advocate on safety standard committees about protecting people who aren't healthy men between 18 and 50. Let me know what you come up with; I might be a resource. Note though that the U.S.'s UL product standards mostly are hamonized with CSA's, but our electrical codes conform much less.

@davey hrm... To clarify, the website will be just a read only source of information, not a social platform or anything.

And we're not physically building anything. The house (with wheelchair accessibility) exists. I am just trying to create the non-profit structure to buy the place and fill it with spoonies as a convalescent space.

This toot thread might help:

And watch the #turtleBower tag -- website coming soon!!

Ok so... Horrible news, potentially awesome news. The building with this nascent intentional community is being sold, we've had a very wobbly start, and the owner is burned out. But... It occurs to me I have been trying to build #turtleBower for years, and I thought finding a good facility would be the hardest part, but the building and location here are perfect. So basically we need to find a way to buy this place, and turn it into a spoonie haven. I'm gonna need a tonne of help though. ๐Ÿงต

@vlrny Thank you, Valerie. I read the thread you suggested. I'd not encountered the spoon metaphor before, only the more-general stress research..As someone who's prone to accidentally overdoing, and paying for it, I particularly appreciate the cardboard-box image. Now there have been many more times when I could do more than I anticipated being able to handle, without coming to harm.
