Aw shit I'm going on another Prester John autistic hyperfixation kick

For those playing at home:

A little while ago I returned to my special interest of the Huns under Attila. This lead me back to another recurring special interest resurgence about the later Mongol Empire. And this led me right back to Prester John, because it's very likely one of the myriad Asian monarchs who European crusaders playing international medieval telephone conflated with the mytical Prester John was, in actuality, Genghis himself.

I will never apologize
@swiff you should never apologize for special interests / hyperfixations, especially if they're super-cool

@swiff tell me more 👀

(and if you have good books to read on the Huns / Attila / Genghis Khan / Prester John, please give me recommendations)

@lapis I'll see what I can pull up! Books specifically?
@swiff I'd prefer books, but podcasts are fine too as long as they're not exclusive to a platform like spotify (I am content with my podcast app I don't wanna switch)
@lapis gotcha! Put a pin in this then, cuz it's been a hot minute since I've done anything like a literature review but a great starting point on the last subject, Prester John: The Legend and its Sources by Keagan Brewer is a great overview
@swiff I have never heard of this Prester John
