@doomgirl Well, "good person" is debatable - he can be a real asshole, some would say abusive, in technical contexts too.
Telling nazis who follow & try to associate themselves with you "no, I don't agree with you and go fuck off" should be a really low bar for "not an extremely awful person", not something you get a "good person" award for.
But I'm very happy he said this and that you brought it to my attention.

Well, it didn't pass the cultural barrier, I'm sorry to say.
And in general (a personal fault!) I'm really bad with direct challenges of a position, even in humour.
[ But good thing this got sorted! I don't want anyone to be under the illusion that I condemn socks with sandals! Part of my wrong context was, most possibly, that I didn't want to spread a harmful stereotype (I understand well why Torvalds wrote his post), but couldn't resist the joke. ]

:) No problem! I grew up with parents who found/find direct challenges difficult. I, and my children seem to have inherited this trait.
I had to look up the "arson, murder and jaywalking" joke reference so the cultural barrier worked both ways this time.
