I want to make the point that Zohran Mamdani talked about affordability while also supporting trans kids and immigrants and refusing to endorse genocide and he won against the heavily favored Democrat despite an avalanche of racist, Islamophobic hatred and zillions in dark money. Candidates can do all these things and win. It's just the Democratic Party is full of sellouts, cowards, and bigots.

@gwynnion

So very, very true.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who voted for Mamdani who don't really think about trans rights or genocide.They voted for Mamdani because what they do care about is a system they feel treats THEM fairly.

Sadly, I think that's most people, which is a bummer, but not a deal breaker.

Unfortunately, for a lot of people in this country kicking "others" is what they want most.

They may not want everything we do but they can still be on our side.

@gwynnion The Democratic Party is positively infected by neoliberalism. It’s sickening. The party is nothing more than tokenism and corporatism.
@gwynnion context is everything
@gwynnion those things are all true. It’s also true that unfortunately that’s not an iron-clad prescription for success — AIPAC money got Jamaal Bowen and Cori Bush ousted in their primaries despite all of the above
