im not sure corporations have really changed like... at all? since the british east india company
kinda fucked up that everyone's just supposed to be okay with that
@emaytch Well, I guess they've changed in the sense that, like our former American colonies, they have grown in power, achieved complete independence, and now dominate us entirely. But no, their modus operandi hasn't changed a bit
@emaytch poclad.org and _The Corporation_ documentary people might be able to help us work on that...

@emaytch correct

"unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality… a perfect organism"

@emaytch the Anglo-Persian Oil Company did a coup on Iran when they nationalized the oil industry. That corporation still exists today as BP.
@emaytch that's the 1953 coup, not to be confused with the 1921 coup which also had British involvement: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_Iranian_coup_d%27%C3%A9tat

@emaytch I saw a video arguing that a lot of companies like east india company were state monopole and it was different from current capitalism but we might be going back to similar structure theses days
@emaytch I don't know. I think they actually, on average, got much worse, but you are probably right that it's not a change in "quality" as much as a change in "quantity".
@bovaz @emaytch Let’s not talk about the United Fruit Company in South America and their mafia

@emaytch the British East India company didn't let anyone join the service after the age of 16, and 2/3 of new employees were dead after 24 months, half of those after the first 12 months.

I'm sure most companies now would be against the employee mortality, training new people is spectacularly expensive.

The Rest is History

@emaytch

they have evolved, physically - they use the internet rather than men on horseback. in terms of morals, they're still sociopaths.

@emaytch Well, they no longer need individual charters for narrow purposes from governments…
(that change was not for the better)
@emaytch
A lot of them seem to be going into the West India Company direction, but yes.
(It was a scam from the outset and burst a bubble that the UK is still paying off debts for.)
