it's happening! "The Secret Rules of the Terminal" is coming out tomorrow!

(update: it's out now!! you can get it here: https://wizardzines.com/zines/terminal/)

here's the table of contents:

@b0rk that little terminal emulator perpetually winking is the cutest shit

@b0rk I have a tenuous grasp of the difference between shell and terminal emulator, and as someone who uses them a lot, it is embarrassing and shameful.

All that is to say... Looking forward to the book :)

@b0rk looks extremely useful for a noob, and still "oh yeah, that explains what I see" for the very experienced. Very interesting.
Btw, nixCraft on Facebook posted your bash redirects page the day after you posted it ... No attribution at all. A couple of us pointed this out.
@rogaharvey thanks! I honestly would not recommend it for someone totally new to the terminal, as usual for my zines it assumes that you've been using the terminal for a few years already and that you know the basics
@b0rk you know Devs, even a new dev will see some funky command and think "oh nice. But how? What's it doing behind the scenes? Can I use this for something else?". This gives you the mechanics behind what you are typing. It's def useful for anyone with curiosity.
@b0rk Fighting the urge to draw an ELI5 "How to use vim" that features eldritch horrors.
@b0rk looks like it's going to be awesome as usual!!
@b0rk why not today, though? I can't wait :) l always learn a bunch reading your zines, even when I already know something about the topic, and I definitely don't know all that much about this topic.
@b0rk Any chance you could update this post when you release so we can all get notified easily?
@b0rk Random fact: Unix job control came from the PDP-10.
