GREAT NEWS! The Solarpunk Film Festival here in Portland will happen again next year (May 2026)... so you can start working on that #solarpunk short film *now*!

(I'm pumped because I couldn't get my submission done in time, and now I've got a year!)

Please share!!

@susankayequinn I’d love to hear more about what you’re working on

@MamaLake When I first heard about the festival I got super excited (I've written many solarpunk novels/short stories and a few screenplays), so I wrote up a 3min script (reUse) about the lifecycle of a knitted octopus. I even got some footage! But I ran out of time before the submission deadline in May. Now I have a year to get it it done, and I'm excited about that.

But! I actually have a second idea as well...

@MamaLake

...I have a short story that has audio (lots of my works have audio) that I think would make a great short film. Needs to be adapted tho because it's not quite straight-to-screen ready, but I have some ideas about shooting some scenes and then basically having the audio as voice-over (it's already a first-person narration). So I'm excited about making that happen too.

Having a year to work on it, makes everything possible to squeeze in.

@MamaLake

Are you thinking about maybe doing something for the film fest?

@susankayequinn these both sound like great starts! Maybe you can accomplish them both. I’d be happy to help out if you need a sounding board. I have a few films percolating in me, but not solarpunk specific.
@MamaLake thanks for the offer of help! I may take you up on that :) And same, if you decide to try your hand at some solarpunk storytelling!
