AaronThis is how fascist governments operate. I *publicly* called this beforehand. I knew we would end up in this war. Fascism works by creating and picking fights with perceived common enemies. This is how they consolidate power. They create trouble and then set themselves up as "protectors" so people will be distracted as they consolidate power. That's what the ICE shit is about. That's what the transphobia shit is about. That's what the autism registry and antivaxxer shit is about. That's what the national guard in LA is about. That's what the war with Iran is about. He will keep doing this as long as he needs to, until he finds the magic combination that unlocks total dictatorial power here at home.
To "protect" us from this dangerous enemy, he needs us to give him more and more control, removing more and more checks and constraints. If he can't get the control he wants fighting this enemy, he will create a new one. This will not stop until he really is supreme leader, the unquestionable dictator with the divine right of kings.
Tweets from 2011-2013 that Trump made, highlighting that he was already thinking of starting a war with Iran as a strategy to gain political support. He was saying Obama would do it, but it was Trump who was thinking this way, mentally treating war as just another machination to gain political support, casualties be damned.
