I think the Journal app in macOS Tahoe is the first first-party Mac Catalyst app* to rely on rich text editing, traditionally a pretty weak spot along Catalyst's API surface (text editing and document management in general). Hopefully that kind of dogfooding will /finally/ close that gap.

*Swift Playground, also Catalyst, uses some variation of Xcode's text editor, which is a whole other thing

@stroughtonsmith I thought that Catalyst was being silently abandoned…
@numericcitizen it's in more use than ever, now used for Journal, Phone and the new Facetime, and in no place that it's been adopted has it been reduced or removed
@stroughtonsmith @numericcitizen no I have the idea its strongest support is inside Apple. They don’t seem to be making Mac apps with any other technology anymore. This is what the Mac is now, it seems? 🤨
@pieteromvlee Craft Docs is a Catalyst app and it’s really good…
@numericcitizen not saying they’d all be bad but just that it’s weird that Apple has stopped making apps with AppKit, or perhaps even SwiftUI. It’s all Catalyst for the Mac
@pieteromvlee maybe devs with AppKit knowledge are becoming harder to find? Write once, deploy everywhere might be more tempting these days with so many platforms.
