Apple Books is an absolute piece of shit when it comes to working with pdfs, annotations. Since 26 it just closes my off at randomly, and it disappears from my library

I’ve read “the world of yesterday” by Stefan Zweig, his masterful biography about him growing in the Austro-Hungarian empire before WW1, and then a fragile peace before being slowly dismantled by thugs before WW2 broke and and destroyed his world a second time.

About how law and order slowly gives way to gangs controlling the streets, state-sanctioned violence to the innocent and helpless. The parallels with the world of today were scary, disturbing. A recommended read.
