Absolutely appalling to see #Pride flags being taken down in response to Cornerstone Book's homophobia in #PrideMonth in #Matlock #Derbyshire #UK

Could anyone help explain to the bookshop ( www.cornerstonebooks.co.uk/ ) why this is problematic in any way that may be effective to make them listen or effect their business?

The bookshop didn't want to be associated with anything "political", which is an excuse that really gets my goat for two reasons:

1) Everything is political. The choice to openly share your faith is inherently political. The very fact we have a reasonable standard of literacy is because of political choices to create an education system - initially pushed by Christians creating Sunday Schools.

2) If you don't show your support for something, you leave space for those who are against it. If you actively distance yourself from support, you actively encourage those against it.

@jetlagjen @StingrayBadger The book shop is stupid. They have engaged in a political act. Bu I repeat: the fault is with the Council who should not have bowed to their bigoted desire.
