You have to understand how sheltered from reality people who operate at that level are. They are EXTREMELY SHELTERED
What's great about the fediverse is that someone like that can have a presence here, but not on my server, and I can mute or block them or the server they're on if I want to. It would be beneficial for the government to have a Mastodon instance, regardless of how much we may disagree with their policies. Isn't that what we want? Isn't that what we're striving for? To get everyone off tech-bro centralized platforms designed for division, addiction, and profit.
@jalefkowit it’s not even the place for common sense discussion for the other party
It’s the place for yelling at people and pretending that’s activism
@jalefkowit This just confirms the feelings that I already had about bluesky & similar platforms.
If it's built for cops, politicians and fucks like this it's not for me.
Within 24 hours, JD Vance was the #1 most blocked account on Bluesky.
One of the nice features in Bluesky is that you can subscribe to a "Moderation List" and choose to either Block or Mute the accounts on it.
I searched for his account out of morbid curiosity, but I couldn't even see it because it was already blocked by the MAGA list that I subscribe to.
You can scroll down through a Moderation List to see who they have on the list. You do need to consider how reliable you think the creator is, but that strikes me as more transparent than trusting how the various Mastodon server admins are doing their blocking.
I also subscribe to a Labeler. Any post that I see by someone that follows JD Vance or about 5 other particularly heinous accounts has a little "<account name> follower" label on it, which is convenient. (I understand that they may just be following in order to monitor.)
Another Labeler puts the names of the top contributors to politicians on their accounts.
