First day of Sweat With Pride and I managed 45 minutes of gardening 😁

A year ago, I would've struggled to do that, let alone move afterwards...
Today, I feel like I've done some solid gardening (damp clay is solidly heavy!) yet I'm not completely wiped

29 days to go!
(Maybe I should take some progress pics of the garden?!)

You can sponsor me or just stalk my progress (totally not creepy!) here: https://www.sweatwithpride.com/fundraisers/jaysmith

Day 2 of #SweatWithPride and I've walked to and from a friend's place - 15 minutes of rolling hills each way (funny how there's always more up than down in both directions... 🤔)

Will I be able to move for more garden digging later this afternoon?!? Tune in later to find out...

Day 3 of #SweatWithPride saw me doing a bunch of short video workouts Les Mills have kindly offered freely to participants...
Cardio, Dance and Flex - all the moderate level! And, yeah, I'm not going hard and heavy on this. I'm respecting my body's limits.

Day 4 of #SweatWithPride and with the very wet weather, I decided to stay indoors and try getting back into some belly dance (before my fatigue years, I used to dance a lot, including some teaching and performing)

Tried an online video, but that turned out to be a talk fest with occasional movement... (at least for the first 20 minutes, which is all I lasted!)
So I found an old iTunes playlist and drilled to that instead 🙂

Funnily enough, after 5 or so years of very little dancing, my hips are very stiff... So strange!! I'm looking forward to seeing how I loosen up over the next few weeks 😊

Day 5 of #SweatWithPride
Because my abs have some opinions about my dance workout yesterday, today I've gone for a walk (in a strong northerly, so now my legs have thoughts!)

I'm really enjoying moving more. It's so lovely to be able to, and my body is feeling better for it (despite all the thoughts and opinions!) 😊

By the way, if you're thinking about sponsoring me, today is a good day to do that as every dollar will be matched by corporate sponsors... Every dollar helps!

Day 6 of #SweatWithPride
I was very tempted to take a rest day and hibernate (it's cold and wet here today) but I managed to talk myself into a dance session and feel better for doing it 😇

Many thanks to the kind anonymous soul who sponsored me yesterday 😘

Day 7 of #SweatWithPride

Um, I got distracted by my knitting and book, so just 15 minutes of vacuuming today, not my full 21 minutes... Oops...
(but then I've gone over every other day, so I'm still comfily on track for my monthly target)

Day 8 of #SweatWithPride and I've sneakily done my workout already - walking to and from church.

(I've also introduced our congregation to the idea of including pronouns on our name tags, but that's more an intellectual exercise!)

Days 9 and 10 of #SweatWithPride have been low key bits of walking...
Cold grey days have slowed me down on all levels.
I'll be trying to amp back up into some dancing and/or a workout tomorrow. 🤞
Day 11 of #SweatWithPride sees me back at the gym with my trainer for half an hour of gentle torture I mean strength training... (followed by grocery shopping... I am ded)
Day 12 of #SweatWithPride
Back indoors and hitting the dance floor (aka belly dance drills in my study)
Day 13 of #SweatWithPride and I need a rest day, so just a few minutes of gentle stretches for me today...
(Back into it tomorrow!)

Day 14 of #SweatWithPride
I meant to go for a walk in the sunshine, but got distracted by my knitting... So, evening dance work out it is!
Reayll enjoying getting back into my belly dance groove - my body is starting to remember how to relax into the moves

Also, I've just hit halfway on my 'minutes of sweating' goal (and we're not quite halfway through the month!) 😁
Still a bit short of halfway on my fundraising goal, so if you fancy helping me with that here's the link https://www.sweatwithpride.com/fundraisers/jaysmith
Every dollar helps! 😘

Day 15 of #SweatWithPride
Today, I enjoyed the sunshine with a walk around the neighbourhood with my lovely husband before lunch.

I am definitely finding it easier to get up hills now - who'd've thought that regular movement could help me get fitter and stronger?!? 🤯😜

Day 16 of #SweatWithPride and some optimistic soul thought it would be a great idea to walk to and from the train station (and all around town) in their less comfy shoes... 🤦
Still, I have survived and will hopefully learn from my mistakes... 🤞

Day 17 of #SweatWithPride
Getting my belly dance on again. Body still feels quite stiff (it's barely been two weeks, Jay, be patient!!) but my hips and ribs are moving again. Found some tunes that made me grin tonight* - always helps to practise smiling while dancing!

*For the curious, 'Bounce' by Solace and Shirley Bassey's cover of 'Get This Party Started'. (I'm nothing if not eclectic 😁)

Day 18 of #SweatWithPride and another interesting work out with my trainer 😊

He also has ADHD, so our conversations can get cheerily random!

Day 19 of #SweatWithPride
Just 10 minutes of walking today

(And the, um, 'functional fitness' of taking Nami to the vet... A bit of a workout for both of us that!)

Days 20 & 21 of #SweatWithPride

Day 20 was another dance workout.

Day 21 was a lot of shifting, lifting, vacuuming, going up and down stairs, and moving things around! 2/3 through a thorough clean of my study now!! 😁💪

Day 22 of #SweatWithPride sees me squeezing in another late night dance session to meet my daily target...

88% of the way to my sweat goal

A lot further away from my fundraising goal...

Day 23 of #SweatWithPride and I've been vacuuming, stacking chairs, and generally tidying up after a funeral (Context: I work at a church)
My body very much feels like it's had a workout!
Day 24 of #SweatWithPride and only managed the 10 minutes total of walking to and from knitting group.
Still... Better than nothing!

Day 25 of #SweatWithPride
And I've now sweated 97% of my goal minutes

Today's training session got cancelled, so I've done a 20 minute dance workout tonight.

Day 26 of #SweatWithPride has been a low energy day for me... But I did spend 10 minutes or so shifting chairs at work, so I'm counting that!

Many thanks to the anonymous soul who donated yesterday 😘

Day 27 of #SweatWithPride and a nice evening dance workout has taken me over 100% of my sweat goal 😁

I am chuffed with that! Especially with how I've been struggling with getting going this week.

I've also now raised over $300 of my $500 fundraising goal!
A huge thank you to all who are supporting me in my sweatacular journey - whether through donations or cheering me on. You all help a lot

Day 28 of #SweatWithPride and I have knitted up a storm (well, about a third of a jersey...) but completely failed to sweat.
Mea culpa, but It's been so nice to just pause and breathe (and knit)
Day 29 of #SweatWithPride and I'm back moving again!
Just been for a pleasant work around the neighbourhood with my lovely husband.
Sunshine would've been nice, but 'not raining' sufficed.

Day 30 of #SweatWithPride - last day!!!

I've walked around town for my sweating today.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey.

Over the month, I've notched up 700 minutes of movement - more than I dared dream possible!
And you've donated $326 via me towards the $848,000 raised so far!

I'm glad I didn't take pics of my garden as that hasn't featured much in my moving (I'll blame this soggy winter!)...
Walking just beat out Dancing as my preferred way of movement AND time spent moving (Housework was well down!!)

I've set up some systems to encourage myself to keep moving (though without the fundraising aspect until next June). I'm curious to see how much movement I can include in my life and how much fitness and stamina I can build...
