That that does seem to be the problem. The world’s richest men, bought total control of the federal government for pocket change..
They got together and pooled their money. Older American wealth has been contributing to this cause for a half century. If it called conservative today, it’s a product of 200 families spending hundreds of millions of dollars over that time to achieve this end here in the UK and elsewhere.

All it takes is paying attention to journalists since the 70s. They’ve all been reporting on this, but the main problem is I think it’s fair to say that the politicians didn’t say this this is a slow motion coup none of this is an assault on America.
