Padilla's assault & handcuffing is getting all the attention, but what Noem said is perhaps more terrifying.

"We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city."

Admitting they're not here for violent criminals, they're here to overthrow our elected officials

@SrRochardBunson
I'm not from there, or a constitutional expert, but isn't that what the second amendment is about?

@midgephoto First ammendment, yes. For sure.

The 2nd ammendment was what the NRA clung to to flood our country with guns in hopes of stopping the very thing that's happening now.

This is unprecedented in my country's 250 years.

@SrRochardBunson @midgephoto

Did you forget about the first American civil war?

@midgephoto @CorvidCrone @SrRochardBunson Not quite seeing the parallel. In terms of US Civil War 1.0, this is as if Sherman had marched through Georgia before any at Fort Sumpter had even unholstered their weapon.

@Gorfram @midgephoto @SrRochardBunson

I am referring to the Confederacy taking up weapons against a legitimately elected government because it conflicted with what they wanted.

@midgephoto @SrRochardBunson @CorvidCrone Oh, okay. I’m just not used casting people from Washington DC in the role of the Confederacy.

(To have been raised in the US is to have a number of fixed ideas, and often a shortfall of flexible knowledge, about the US Civil War. At least in my case, anyway šŸ˜‰)

@Gorfram @midgephoto @SrRochardBunson

I was blown away when I learned that schools south of the Mason Dixon line still teach the civil war as "The War of Northern Aggression". šŸ‘€

I grew up in a state that never had legal slavery (my God, Iowa, how low you've fallen).
