@peribotsarah the less fresh they are, the less wrong it is. And a lot of places are just selling bagel-shaped bread, which isn’t actually a bagel, so may be toasted if you feel the need to punish yourself by eating it.
@littlemiao@peribotsarah weirdly, Smith’s (a grocery chain in New Mexico) makes surprisingly decent bagels. They’re a Kroger brand, so maybe other chains might have the same ones?
@littlemiao@peribotsarah good luck! I was happily surprised the the ones at Smith’s. They’re still not nearly as good as I’d like, but they’re good enough to hold off the urgency of a trip just to buy bagels.
