NPR affiliate WAMU says there continue to be interruptions to its radio signal as a person who climbed the transmission tower on the American University campus in DC remains on the structure. The site is also used by all-news WTOP FM, which says it is transmitting from a backup facility in Maryland.
@w7voa Seem okay right now, but I am alarmed to discover that the local DC-area NOAA weather station, KHB-36, at 162.55 mHz, is now repeating a message that it is “temporarily off the air.” Maybe a coincidence. #dcwx #vawx #radio
@ClimateJenny @w7voa The National Weather service has been doing upgrades that require taking their radios temporarily offline recently. I looked it up and the DC area is scheduled to be out June 10-June 12. partnerservices.nws.noaa.gov/products/a34da5f6895d4a435e86162e3e33840a

@Jay @w7voa Well, that’s reassuring.

I was having flashbacks to a day when my husband called me to warn me not to go downtown because a plane had crashed into the Pentagon, and my first thought was, “oh, bad luck, that approach to DCA is dangerous.” Then he told me about the World Trade Center and I understood the larger picture.

So two at the same time freaked me out just a bit!
