You know the one:
Fake Wittgenstein's friend: "It was reasonable for people to believe that the sun revolves around the earth, because that is what it looks like"
Fake Wittgenstein: "What would it have looked like, if the earth revolved around the sun, rather than the other way around?"

If you really start applying that idea, exploring in general the options that would give the same apparent outcomes as what you actually believe, you go stark raving mad.

It applies to all branches of science. For example statistics: there's no such thing as "letting the data speak for themselves"; they're always interpreted against a background of assumptions and prior knowledge.
