@woefi No, as it looks, all app icons that are somewhat special, i.e., don’t use a squircle with background are forced into the grey box.

This also applies to Things, CyberDuck, ScreenFloat, Diagrams, Transmit, …

@fhe I’m sorry for your icon… but how would the system decide when to box it? I remember in the iOS 6 era there was this „-precomposed“ keyword to tell the system to leave it alone.

@fhe Aww, breaking outside the square was one of my favorite things about Mac app icons. So now, the best icons are the worst-looking ☹️ I wonder if that gray enclosure is final, or if they plan to add a bit more dignity.

I already like replacing any app icon that’s not updated for the Big Sur square, but on Tahoe that’ll be almost mandatory!
