FYI, installing #Xcode27 beta broke the ability to create VMs on my installation of macOS 26.5.1. Tried UTM and VirtualBuddy.

I had to install the #macos27 beta on a dedicated APFS volume, was able to create the VM there, and copy it over to my production install.

According to an Apple Engineer, it’s a “late incompatibility between the VZMacOSInstaller API on macOS 26.6 and the macOS 27 IPSW”.

Another on my list of small niceties in macOS 27 beta: we have decoupled Show Borders from Increase Contrast for apps using the new design. This is great for people who just want a little more edge definition on UI elements, but don't want to jump all the way to the weighty color changes of Increase Contrast.

So:
• With Siri AI, Apple deliberately developed a brand-new (and central) OS feature that they knew would not meet the DMA requirements they've been subjected to since 2023
• They went to the EU Commission with the proposal of a technical solution that is not ready and would not roll out before 18 months
• The EU Commission said no because lol what do you mean you plan to disobey the DMA *again* for the next 18 months
• Apple whines
